EKF Kyu Grade Championships – Sheffield

11 students from Forza Karate Club were selected to represent Frontier Karate Association at the 2017 EKF Kyu Grade Championships.

With over 1000 competitors and 8 mats, the day was very busy and many events highly contested. Our squad are relatively new to sport karate, with many first time competing at the event and others only attending for their 2nd time.

The results were as follows – In brackets attempts in open/national competiton.

  • Theo Charles (2) – Lost 8-2 first round to eventual champion
  • Malachi Dowling (1) – 1-1 lost on decision first round
  • Kobe Yogarajah (3)- Lost 1-0 first round
  • Curtis Monerville (2) won first round 2-2 on decision and lost 2nd round 2-1
  • Bradley Monerville (2)lost 3-0 first round
  • Christian Monerville (1)- Won first round 1-0 and lost 2nd round 2-1
  • Jamie Cowling – (2) Lost first round 3-0
  • Lauren Symmons  (3) – Lost 3-0 first round
  • Sophie Court (1)  – Lost first round 3-0
  • Dylan Faint – (1) – Won first round on decision, Lost 1-0 in the 2nd round
  • Sam Kitchen – Won Bronze medal in mens -75kg
  • Boys 10-11 yrs Team * Kobe (forza), Dylan (forza) and Zuko (Khalsa) Bronze medal.

Great experience for the squad at the highest level for Brown belts and below in the country. Thank you to the parents for supporting the event and shouting encouragement to the squad.
